Mystery Speech

Since 1934 it has been a tradition to have a colleague present a distinguished lecture to the assembled body of collegiate agricultural educators at their annual meeting. In the recent past, the president-elect of the American Association for Agricultural Education was responsible to secure the distinguished lecturer. However, the identity of the lecturer is kept secret – thus the title Mystery Speech or Mystery Speaker. It is a distinct honor to be selected to present the mystery speech/ distinguished lecture. Following is a list of the distinguished lecturers along with a link to their speeches. In the very early days (1930-1934) of this tradition, the distinguished lectures were discussions lead by an individual selected by the profession.
